Moore County Landfill Information

Moore County Landfill is located at 456 Turning Leaf Way off Hwy #5 in Aberdeen, NC 28315.  From Aberdeen it's one mile past Sandpit Road.  From Pinehurst it's one mile past the Food Lion Shopping Center.

The scale house may be reached at 910-295-4202 and the shop 910-295-0431.

Landfill operations include the daily operation of the Construction and Demolition Landfill, Yard Waste Facility, and the collection sites for special waste such as scrap tires and white goods.  Landfill staff also assists with off-site projects, which require the use of heavy equipment.

Following closure of the County's Sanitary Landfill, all municipal solid waste is routed through the Moore County Transfer Station, operated by Uwharrie Environmental, Inc. and transported for disposal in a lined high tech, Sub-title D Landfill facility in Montgomery County.

The landfill is the only place you can dispose of scrap tires.

Scrap Tire Certification

The North Carolina Division of Waste Management administers a comprehensive program to manage scrap tires. This program prevents illegal dumping of tires by providing an infrastructure to safely collect, store, and recycle scrap tires.
An advance disposal fee is charged when new tires are sold. The proceeds are distributed to each county to pay for collection and recycling of tires. Each load of more than five tires must be accompanied by a completed SCRAP TIRE CERTIFICATION FORM for free disposal eligibility.
